How does PIF DAO envision the future of play to earn?

Play It Forward DAO strives to be a key player in empowering the GameFi industry by providing interested gamers access to the metaverse and play-to-earn games. One way to fulfill this goal is to continuously educate and inform the community about our niche through Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions, interviews, and events.

PIF DAO’s CEO, Cholo Maputol had an AMA session with an NFT gaming content creator, The Buffesor. The AMA session focused on the missions of Play It Forward DAO as well as Cholo’s views on the future of play-to-earn and blockchain gaming guilds.

What is Play It Forward DAO?

Play It Forward DAO was founded by high school friends, Cholo Maputol, Rupert Cabrera, Arlo Cristobal, Janze De Guzman, and Paolo Santos. It is an ecosystem that aims to bring as many players into the metaverse and play to earn gaming as much as possible.

How did PIF DAO start out?

PIF DAO’s CEO, Cholo Maputol spent over 10 years in banking and finance before he entered the GameFi industry. He started investing in crypto in 2017. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he began to delve deeper into GameFi and DeFi by starting his own blockchain gaming guild.

In July 2021, Cholo’s guild started out with over 25 players. He then began to group up with the rest of the co-founders, who were also managing their own small-scale guilds to build Play It Forward DAO.

PIF DAO’s founders have shared history with regard to gaming since they have been playing games like Counter-Strike and DOTA throughout high school and college. This shared ground positioned them to take advantage of the play-to-earn phenomenon.

To accomplish their goal of bringing gamers into the metaverse and P2E gaming, they operate a large-scale guild of P2E players named Railings University. Aside from managing Railings University, PIF DAO aims to help scale the operations of other guilds as well.

What is Railings University?

Railings University (RU) is the first large-scale guild managed by Play It Forward DAO. It currently consists of more than 3,000 players around the Philippines, Indonesia, and soon to other countries as well.

We encourage Railings University scholar applicants to have a passion for gaming and a willingness to contribute to the community. We have seen the ups and downs of many play-to-earn games, which led to volatile potential earnings.

A player’s passion for gaming is what will drive them to contribute to the community by simply getting better and becoming one of the top players in the game.

Why NFT or P2E gaming?

Aside from helping players earn additional income from play to earn games, NFT gaming is one of the best paths for crypto and blockchain adoption. Gaming impacts the daily lives of people since it is very central to the human experience. You can prove this by seeing how people, even kids and babies, enjoy playing.

With NFT gaming, players can get satisfaction through winning and getting better at a game. As long as the interest is there, they will continue to play the game regardless of the financial outcome.

PIF DAO sees NFT gaming as the best way to onboard a massive community of gamers into the blockchain space and play to earn. By targeting gamers, its guild has managed to have a strong community that is not all about money and returns.

What does PIF DAO look for when investing in P2E games?

Whenever we come across games that want to partner with us, the first thing we ask is if they can give us a bunch of test accounts. We will then let our game researchers understand the game and see if its economy and gameplay are worth investing in.

We also look at the game’s tokenomics to see whether its token model has long-term sustainability and utility. Lastly, we value how strong and unified the game’s community is because it means that there is a consistent organic demand.

How does PIF stay protected within a brand new space like play to earn and NFT gaming?

PIF DAO has a process for how we analyze investments. We have game researchers test the games and analyze their tokenomics. We also do background checks of the project’s team and monitor their roadmap. Overall, we ensure that everything is above board, realistic, and investible.

A part of our risk management is also to ensure that we are not too concentrated only on one game. We don’t easily go into one game just because everyone is doing so unless we prove that it is actually a viable investment.

Making sure that our community is on board and aware of the plans is also very important. We take community feedback regularly to ensure that the decisions we make are not reactive, but instead sustainable and focused on our key objectives.

What is the goal of Play It Forward DAO from 2022 onwards?

Starting in 2022, Play It Forward DAO will continue to expand geographically. From the Philippines and Indonesia, we are now going to market in Vietnam as well. We aim to focus on the sustainable and meaningful player acquisition by identifying gamers who really want to build a career in play to earn.

Our mission is still the same: to make play more rewarding by offering gamers a chance to excel financially and professionally through gaming. In fact, a lot of full-time employees under Play It Forward DAO used to be Railings University gaming scholars. We have scholars who were promoted as streamers, coaches, and game researchers.

What is the $PIF token?

Play It Forward DAO has a live utility token ($PIF), which is already listed on MEXC and soon to other exchanges as well. We are currently working on providing more utility to our users like investors and players.

There are quite a number of things about $PIF that we are planning with our game partners and investors. Over the next couple of months, we should be announcing them so make sure to subscribe to our social media channels and become a member of our Telegram and Discord communities.

Thoughts about the current play to earn and NFT gaming space

People might not be bullish on NFT gaming as they were a few months ago and this is something that PIF DAO tracks very closely. What we realize is that the behavior of players changes depending on the market.

Back when Axie Infinity is at its boom, many RU players quit their full-time jobs to focus on the game. However, when the SLP’s market changed, a lot of them began to play it only as a side hustle. Although they no longer play Axie Infinity full-time, they still enjoyed the game.

Thus, to drive players into the game and keep them coming back to play, games need to be fun. Players should enjoy the game and the community, regardless of whether they earn a dollar or fifty from playing.

Although there is currently less attention in the NFT gaming space, NFT games can still come out on top as long as developers have a “fun-first, profits-second” mindset in creating games.
